Our first ‘We Don’t Do Lonely’ Day

After months and months of talking about it we made it a priority to kick-start our ‘We Don’t Do Lonelydays with a great session working from Sophie’s Soho with a lot of help from the team at AndCo.

One of the hardest things about freelancing and working for yourself is, well, working by yourself! We want to do our bit to quash the loneliness of working solo or from home, so we launched our series of ‘We Don’t Do Lonely’ days. A chance for freelancers, small business owners and the self-employed to all get together. An informal gathering giving you the opportunity to simply work with other like-minded people around you, to have some friendly conversation and throw some ideas around.

We partnered with AndCo – a super-flexible hot desking company – and set up our Doers ‘office’ for the day in the super cool interiors of Sophie’s Soho.

We were joined by freelancers and business owners alike and it was so refreshing to be able to work accompanied by some entertaining chatter. We sat with our laptops, swapped notes, laughed, supported and sparked ideas. We got some insight into how others work, where they freelance from and even learnt a few new tricks of the trade too.

AndCo put super-fast WiFi in to all of their venues so we could all work side-by-side, (with no steely looks from the waiting staff) and without having to find anyone to watch your stuff for you whilst you popped to the loo - result!

Here’s what a few of the people who joined us to beat freelancer loneliness had to say:

These sessions are very relaxed and entirely pressure free - come by for an hour or stay the whole day. Anything goes!

We’ll be hosting ‘We Don’t Do Lonely’ days every single month, so check out our events page to see when and where our next get together is taking place. Follow us on Instagram @thedoersuk and help us spread the news using the hashtag #wedontdolonely. Hope to see you at the next one!
